★ Malika Pukhraj Biography
Malika Pukhraj (1912–2004), known simply as “Malika” (The Queen), was a highly popular ghazal and folk singer of Pakistan. She was most famous for her evergreen rendition of Hafeez Jalandhri’s “Abhi tau main jawan hoon”. Her long and illustrious career started at age nine as a court singer for the Maharaja of Jammu. After Partition, she became a sensation on Radio Pakistan and was awarded the Pride of Performance Award in 1980.
