Abida Parveen (born 1954) is known as the “Queen of Sufi Music” and is a global icon of mystical music. Trained by her father Ustad Ghulam Haider, she is renowned for her powerful and impassioned vocal delivery of Sufi poetry. She performs in the genres of Sufi Devotional (Kafi, Qawwali), Ghazal, and Classical music. Her contributions have been recognized with Pakistan’s highest civilian honours, including the Nishan-e-Imtiaz, Hilal-e-Imtiaz, Sitara-e-Imtiaz, and Pride of Performance.
