Alamgir (born 1955) is widely regarded as a pioneer of pop music in Pakistan, often referred to as the “Elvis of the East” for his energetic stage presence. Born in East Pakistan (now Bangladesh), he moved to Karachi in 1971 and was discovered in a local cafe. He shot to fame with hits like “Albela Rahi” and “Dekha Na Tha”. Despite health battles, he has released over 30 albums and received the Pride of Performance award in 2013.
