★ Iqbal Bano Biography
Iqbal Bano (1935–2009) was a celebrated Pakistani ghazal singer who trained under Ustad Chand Amrohvi. She became a cult figure and a symbol of resistance for defiantly singing revolutionary works by the banned poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz during the military regime of the 1980s. She was known for her powerful renditions of ghazals and semi-classical Urdu songs, for which she received the Pride of Performance award.
