Farida Khanum (born 1929) is known affectionately as Malika-e-Ghazal (Queen of Ghazal). A student of Ustad Ashiq Ali Khan of the Patiala Gharana, she gained international fame for her timeless and iconic rendition of the ghazal “Aaj Jaane Ki Zidd Na Karo”. She performs in various genres including Khayal, Thumri, and Dadra. She has been highly decorated with the Pride of Performance in 1970 and the Hilal-e-Imtiaz in 2005.
