Munni Begum (born 1946) is a renowned Pakistani ghazal singer, known for her strong, clear voice and selection of ghazals with simple language that resonate with the masses. Born in India and raised in East Pakistan (Bangladesh), she moved to Karachi in 1971 and gained fame in the 1970s with hits like “Jhoom Barabar Jhoom Sharabi”. The government of Pakistan awarded her the Pride of Performance in 2008.
