Habib Wali Muhammad (c. 1921–2014) was an iconic ghazal singer who belonged to a prominent industrialist family but chose to pursue his passion for music. Trained by Ustad Latafat Ali Khan, he became famous for his poignant renditions of ghazals by master poets like Bahadur Shah Zafar and Ghalib, including the classic “Yeh Na Thi Hamari Qismet”. He also famously sang the popular film song “Aaj Janay Ki Zid Na Karo” and the patriotic anthem “Sohni Dharti”.
