Known as A. Hameed, he was a Pakistani film music composer who worked initially as a pianist in the Hindi film industry before moving to Pakistan after Partition. He composed music for over 70 films and had major hits with films like Saheli (1960) and Tauba (1964). His family was deeply rooted in music and academia, and he was trained by musicians like C. Ramchandra.
