Faiz Ahmed Faiz (1911–1984) was one of Pakistan’s most celebrated and influential Urdu and Punjabi poets, as well as an author and scholar. He was a multifaceted individual who also served as a teacher, a military officer, a journalist, and a trade unionist. His early poetry evolved into an expression of the leftist Progressive Movement. His significant contributions to literature, including collections like Chand Chehra Sitara Ankhhen, were recognized with awards such as the Adamji Prize, Pakistan’s highest literary award.
