Asif Mehdi (1966–2021) was a respected Pakistani ghazal and playback singer in the Lollywood film industry. Hailing from a rich musical lineage, he was the son of the legendary ghazal maestro Mehdi Hassan and was dedicated to carrying forward the heritage of the Kalawant clan. He received rigorous traditional training from his father and uncle from a very young age in the classical forms of Dhrupad and Khayal. His talent was recognized within the industry, earning him a prestigious Nigar Award.
