Junoon is one of South Asia’s most successful Sufi rock bands, founded in 1990 by lead guitarist and songwriter Salman Ahmad. Often referred to as the “U2 of South Asia,” the band is known for blending arena rock with traditional Sufi poetry and has sold over 30 million albums worldwide. Their biggest international hits include “Sayonee” and “Dum Mustt Qalandar”. The band consisted of Salman Ahmad, singer Ali Azmat, keyboardist Nusrat Hussain, and bassist Brian O’Connell.
